  • Hyland Prep School combines the care and supervision families expect from a full-day childcare program with the structure, routines, and learning experiences of a preparatory preschool. Our focus is on helping children build confidence, independence, early academic foundations, social skills, and readiness for kindergarten and primary school.

  • Yes. A uniform will be mandatory for children enrolled at Hyland Prep School. Our uniform helps create a polished, school-ready environment while supporting consistency, pride, and a sense of belonging within the classroom.

    One Hyland Prep School polo shirt will be included with registration. Additional polo shirts and embroidered crest cardigans will be available for purchase through the Hyland Prep School administration office.

    Families may purchase additional uniform pieces separately, such as navy blue, white, or tan pants, trousers, skirts, pinafores, or similar school-appropriate bottoms from The Children’s Place or other comparable retailers. Full uniform guidelines will be provided to enrolled families before the program begins.

  • Hyland Prep School is designed to serve families across Northeast and Northwest Calgary who are looking for a full-day preschool, early learning centre, or school-readiness focused childcare program for children ages 3 to 5. This includes families from Skyview Ranch, Redstone, Cornerstone, Cityscape, Savanna, Saddleridge, Taradale, Martindale, Harvest Hills, Coventry Hills, Panorama Hills, Livingston, Carrington, Evanston, and Ambleton.

  • At Hyland Prep School, “prep school” means helping young children prepare for their next stage of learning in an age-appropriate way. Our program supports classroom routines, independence, early literacy, early numeracy, communication skills, social development, and confidence before children transition into kindergarten or elementary school.

  • Hyland Prep School uses a play-based and emergent curriculum with intentional learning experiences. Children explore early literacy, numeracy, creative expression, practical independence, social development, physical development, and problem-solving through meaningful play, classroom routines, guided activities, and hands-on learning.

    Children will be introduced to early literacy and numeracy concepts such as stories, songs, vocabulary, letter awareness, name recognition, counting, sorting, patterns, shapes, measurement, puzzles, and problem-solving. These skills are taught in a developmentally appropriate way through play, exploration, and guided classroom experiences.

  • Children will bring lunch from home, similar to the routine they will experience in elementary school. This helps children practise independence with lunch containers, personal belongings, and mealtime routines. More detailed lunch guidelines will be provided to enroled families.

  • Yes. A quiet rest period will be included as part of the daily routine. Children who do not sleep will be offered calm, quiet activities. This helps children reset and supports a balanced full-day preschool schedule.

  • Yes. Outdoor play and gross motor activity are an important part of a balanced early learning program. Children will have opportunities to move, explore, build coordination, and develop physical confidence as part of their daily routine.

  • Special events, classroom celebrations, and field trip details will be shared with families as the program develops. Any off-site activities requiring permission will be communicated to families in advance.

  • Families can join our interest list to receive waitlist updates, tour announcements, and enrollment information for our September 2026 opening. When registration becomes available, enrollment opportunities will be offered in the order families joined the waitlist.

  • Joining the interest list or waitlist does not guarantee enrollment. However, families who join early will receive priority updates and will be contacted first when registration opportunities become available for September 2026.

  • Hyland Prep School will use Brightwheel to communicate with families and share important updates about each child’s day. Through Brightwheel, families may receive classroom updates, reminders, messages, and information about their child’s routines, activities, and overall experience in the program. This helps keep communication organized, timely, and easy for parents to access.
