A Preparatory Early Learning Centre for Young Children
Hyland Prep School is a full-day preschool and early learning centre in Calgary for children ages 3 to 5. Opening September 2026, our program is designed for families seeking more than traditional childcare — a place where young children can build confidence, independence, social skills, classroom routines, and the early learning foundations needed for kindergarten, elementary school, and beyond.
Inspired by the structure and polish of a preparatory school environment, Hyland Prep School brings a calm, purposeful, and age-appropriate approach to early childhood education.
Our Story
Hyland Prep School was created for families who value early learning, school preparation, and strong character development during the preschool years.
We believe the years before kindergarten are incredibly important. This is the stage where children begin learning how to participate in a classroom community, follow routines, communicate their needs, care for their belongings, build friendships, and approach learning with curiosity and confidence.
Our goal is to provide a full-day preschool experience that feels warm and supportive, while also helping children prepare for the expectations of primary school.
At Hyland Prep School, preparation does not mean pressure. It means giving children the habits, confidence, independence, and foundational skills they need to feel ready for their next stage of learning.
The Hyland Approach
Hyland Prep School combines play-based learning with intentional school-readiness experiences. Children learn through exploration, stories, songs, hands-on activities, group learning, creative expression, movement, outdoor play, and meaningful classroom routines.
Our educators observe children’s interests and guide learning in a way that supports early literacy, early numeracy, practical independence, social development, communication, fine motor skills, and emotional regulation.
Children are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, make choices, care for their environment, and participate as confident members of the classroom.
Preparing Children for the Next Step
Hyland Prep School supports the transition from preschool to kindergarten and primary school by helping children practise the routines and skills they will use in a school setting.
This includes sitting for group learning, listening to instructions, communicating with teachers and peers, managing lunch containers, caring for personal belongings, taking responsibility for small tasks, resolving conflicts, and participating in a classroom community.
Our goal is for children to leave Hyland Prep School feeling confident, capable, and ready for the next stage of their education.
